Mamombe, Chimbiri To Spend Another Night in Detention, Marova Granted ZWL$15k Bail

Opposition Movement for Democratic Change (MDC Alliance) youth leaders Joana Mamombe and Cecelia Chimbiri who were arrested for addressing a press conference outside the Harare magistrates court last week will spend another night in remand prison after Magistrate Vongai Muchuchuti said that the bail ruling was not ready today.

The two, Mamombe and Chimbiri will go back to Chikurubi maximum prison waiting fro their bail ruling which is expected to be handed down on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Mamombe and Chimbiri’s accomplice Netsai Marova has been granted ZWL$15 000 bail while ZINASU leader Takudzwa Ngadziore will remain incarcerated at Harare Remand Prison after High Court Judge Justice Nyaradzo Munangati-Manongwa postponed hearing of his bail appeal to Monday to allow the State to file its response and for the transcribing of the record of proceedings.

In a related case, Masvingo police today arrested five members of Masvingo Residents Forum who had gathered at Civic Centre to submit a petition to Acting Town Clerk Edward Mukaratirwa.

The petition mainstreamed service delivery issues chief among them the poor state of roads and water shortages.
