www.263chat.com

February is the month of love and 263Chat will be celebrating it with you by giving you ideas on what you can do for your loved ones. Today we will be looking at how to a handle a semi-heartbreak of not receiving anything after raising your hopes high.

With Valentine’s Day on tomorrow, a lot of people (especially girls and women) have high exceptions of receiving gifts and being appreciated.

But the truth of the matter is that not everyone is going to receive something or be taken somewhere for a change and its going to be very disappointing.

If you’re in a romantic relationship, it’s not unusual to expect a Valentine’s Day gift from your significant other.

In fact, one survey found that roughly half of women would break up with their partners over not receiving a gift on that special day

Please note this does not only apply to women, there are men out there going out of their way to do something for their wife/girlfriend but will not receive anything in return.

So the question is how do you handle this type of heartbreak. There are some people out there who can be likened to whiskey: their hearts are always on the rocks.

  • Avoid high expectations.
  • Try not to react at all until at least after dinner.
  • Go about your day as normally as possible.
  • Don’t be jealous when others receive gifts at work or school.
  • Give your gift, don’t withhold your gift waiting to receive yours first.
  • Remember any life events that may have made it difficult for your partner to shop.
  • Think about your conversations from the last few weeks.
  • Ask if your partner knows what today is.
  • Explain your feelings to your partner for example telling them you celebrate Valentine’s Day.
  • Consider the stage of your relationships, if its new you are most likely not going to receive but this does not apply to everyone

It hurts yes, but you need to understand the dynamics and reasons behind your partner not celebrating Valentine’s Day. Some are religious reasons and cannot be done away with. Remember not to overreact, its a normal set of 24 hours that will pass.
