Japajapa Nails Army Over 1st of August Shootings

Movement for Democratic Change member, Paddington Japajapa has nailed the Zimbabwe National Army for the death of six civilians on the 1st of August following protests in the central business district of Harare.

Making his submissions at the Commission of Inquiry into the post election violence, Japajapa said he followed the army during their CBD operations and saw soldiers shooting randomly at civilians walking in the streets of Harare.

“I never saw any people demonstrating, what I saw was the Zimbabwe National Army shooting randomly at civilians who were walking in the streets of Harare” Japa Japa tells the Commission,” said Japajapa.

He added that the deployment of soldiers to quell protests was unnecessary as it was like using a 30 pounds hammer to kill a mosquito further calling for the amendment of the constitution to avoid a repeat of the 1st of August disturbances from happening again.
