Self exiled former cabinet minister Professor Jonathan Moyo has distanced himself from the much hated legislation  Public Order and Security Act (POSA), instead implicating ZIPRA Supremo and ZAPU leader Dumiso Dabengwa and the late Vice President John Landa Nkomo as the figures behind the procurement of draconian law in the early 2000s.

The government enacted the dreaded Public Order and Security Act which led to the arrest of hundreds of opposition activists while setting restrictions to the holding of public gatherings.

Professor Moyo who became the information minister in 2000 was for long believed to be the brains behind draconian legislation that were crafted and enacted and was at some point labelled a media hangman.

Posting on his micro blog twitter last night, Professor Moyo implicated Nkomo and Dabengwa as responsible for activation of Ian Smith’s Law and Order Maintenance Act (LOMA) saying even if he is hated for POSA , it will not cover up the truth about who formulated the legislation.

“No amount of propaganda or personal hatred will change the fact that POSA was initiated by Dumiso Dabengwa when he was home affairs minister between 1995 and 2000, before I joined government.

“POSA was then steered into law by John Nkomo when he became home affairs minister in 2000!” he said.

Moyo further revealed the torrid time he had with the current Vice President Kembo Mohadi saying the latter tried in vain to have him expelled from government over his rants against the police decision to cancel the press freedom celebration at a short notice in 2014.

“On 6 May 2014 Kembo Mohadi, as home affairs minister brought to Cabinet a scurrilous memo; labeling me a threat to national security and seeking my dismissal from government over a May 3 presser I did lambasting ZRP for a 11th hour cancellation of world press day events,” added Moyo.

Efforts to get a comment from Dabengwa were fruitless as his mobile did not go through.

Moyo fled into exile last November following he military intervention which led to the fall of long time ruler; Robert Mugabe.
