Warriors one step shy into the quarter-finals

The Warriors are one step shy to reach the quarter-finals stage of the COSAFA Cup currently underway in South Africa when they face Namibia needing at least a draw to go through to the quarter-finals tomorrow.

The Warriors have won both their matches played so far and they only need at least a draw against Namibia to progress to the next stage of the prestigious tournament.

Zimbabwe beat Mauritius 2-0 in their opening game on Sunday and went on to Seychelles 1-0 in a tightly contested encounter and now they are comfortable on six points from two matches.

The Warriors’ last match against Seychelles saw Talent Chawapihwa struck a sweet winner in the 53rd minute to clinch on narrowly won victory. After a goalless first half, Chawapihwa lurched onto the ball inside the box, driving it down and wide of a diving Seychelles stopper.
With six points from two games, Zimbabwe needs at least a draw to progress to the last 8 after Namibia registered a 2-nil win over Mauritius on Tuesday evening.
The Warriors who are still to concede a goal will be wishing to maintain their compactness in defence while also exhibiting the attacking flair shown in their first two encounters.
Talent Chawapiwa, Ronald Chitiyo and Tuesday’s man-of-the-match Raphael Manuvire will once again be key players when the Warriors plunge into battle against a Namibian side that goes into Thursday’s encounter needing nothing short of a victory to qualify to the quarters.

The Warriors were drawn in Group B with Seychelles, Mauritius and Namibia and the currently tops the group with six points while Namibia is second has four points.
