High court suspends sentence for 3 MDC-T police killers

The sentence for Three MDC-T activists who killed Police Inspector Petros Mutedza in Glen was yesterday suspended for two weeks.

High court Judge, Justice Chinembiri suspended the sentence of  Tungamirai Madzokere (MDC-T councillor for Glen View ward 32), Yvonne Musarurwa and Lazarus Maengahama,

The fourth accused, Phenias Nhatarikwa who was found not guilty was however granted $100 bail.

Nhatarikwa was found guilty of being an accessory after the public violence having drove the three convicts.

The trio which was represented by Zimbabwe Human Rights Lawyers, Beatrice Mtetwa,were charged with contravening section 47 of the Criminal Law codification and Reform Act.

Mtetwa argued that case was marred with injustice as the convicts were only convicted with the doctrine of common purpose yet there were not there on the day in question.

Judge Chinembiri however suspended the sentence, saying that court had run out of time.
