Savannah Beverages and two of its senior employees have appeared in court for allegedly defrauding Blackbox Investments (Pvt) Limited of US$66,894 in a failed supply deal involving Jade pet industrial chemicals and plastic polymers.
Savannah Beverages Company, its operations manager Alexious Manyanda (46) and its director Simarashe Manyanda (36) appeared before Harare magistrate Marewanazvo Gofa charged with fraud and money laundering.
They were both released on US$500 bail qnd the matter rolled over to 3 July 2025.
The complainant in this matter is Blackbox Investments (Pvt) Ltd, represented by its accountant Tinotenda Kevin Badza.
The Court heard that on the dates unknown to the prosecutor but during the year 2022 and at Savannah Beverage, Harare, Alexiuos Manyanda and Simbarashe Manyanda one or both of them misrepresented to Blackbox Investments (Pvt) Ltd that they have capacity to supply Jade pet industrial Chemicals and Plastic Polymers at a value of ZWL 124 088 370-00.
Acting upon the misrepresentation Blackbox Investments [Pvt] Ltd reportedly paid Alexious Manyanda and Simbarashe Manyanda a total of ZWL 124 088 370-00 but they never delivered the Jadepet Industrial Chemicals and Plastic Polymers as promised.
Blackbox Investments suffered actual prejudice of ZWL 124 088 370 converted to US$66 894-00.
