Bakers Inn Seeking to Consolidate Market Share

MUTARE- Bakers Inn, one of the leading bakeries in the country has set its target to supply bread to 50% of the market by 2017 following its price reduction strategies adopted earlier this year.

The Company’s Chief Executive Officer Ngoni Mazango said the confectionary was targeting regional expansion, while on the domestic front it is looking at ways to increase its market share fro 42% to 50%.

Adressing journalists on the sidelines of a Bakers Inn “Buy and Win” promotion draw in Mutare, Mazango said they wanted to consolidate their presence in the country.

“We want to consolidate our presence in Zimbabwe and ensure that we grow our market share up to 50% before we go outside. We believe that we should satisfy our local customers before we move out of the region.

“We are currently the market leader and we are not apologetic about it and we are proud to be leading it the sector,” said Mazango.

He added, “ We have taken up the price reduction strategies to show that we are a responsive organization to the needs of our customers. We have also launched the dollar for 4 pies as well as 50 cents loaves to carter for every market niche.”

Mazango said the company had invested a lot of money in capacitating the business.

“Just recently, we acquired about 200 brand new vehicles, just to ensure that we get our products to the customers. We deliver everywhere in the country,” he said.

Mazango said the decentralized Buy and Win promotion was a sign that the firm valued its diverse customer base and wanted to reward their loyalty to their brand.

“We have seen so many companies holding promotions in Harare, but we have decentralized to cover all region and province. Our Mutare draw is our fourth, meaning that we will be going round the country in all ten provinces.

“This is a challenge to the private sector to also emulate what we have done because we want to have an impact and change lives of ordinary people,” he said.

In Mutare  a 32 year-old house maid from Greenside won the grand prize of a VW Polo vehicle.

Mazango said, “We are really happy that an ordinary person has won this because that is our aim as a company to transform lives. We have also selected individual vendors who will receive 40 loaves to start small vending businesses.”

The lucky winner Emelda Kazembe could not hide her joy, saying this had been the least of her expectations to win the coveted top prize.

Kazembe, a widow with two daughters said her life has been transformed by Bakers Inn.

“My life has been changed by Bakers Inn, I can’t believe that I really won this car because I always doubted that these draws were fair but now I have been proven wrong.

“When they called me I was in disbelief until some from Max where I buy bread also called me and alerted me that I had won. This is the best day of my life,” she said.
