Govt Commends Ongoing Research In Traditional Medicines

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has commended ongoing research in traditional medicines being carried out as part of national efforts to fight the COVID-19 pandemic.

This follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Zimbabwe and China which already culminated in the establishment of Traditional Chinese Medicine clinic at one of the country’s largest referral hospitals in the country.

Addressing the Forum on Traditional Chinese Medicines today, the President said traditional health systems are part of the country’s heritage .

“While we pin our hopes on the COVID-19 vaccination programmes, it is imperative that scientists broaden collaboration in research and development of traditional medicines. This will ensure safe development and deployment of our rich indigenous knowledge systems to tackle the pandemic.
