Hwange in line for fair play award

Hwange Football Club are in the strife to walk away with the Castle Lager Premier Soccer (PSL) league fair play award after amassing the fewer number of bookable offenses as of match day 25.

Although they have been plagued by a number of off-field problems, the Coal Miners have been much disciplined on the field after committing the least number of fouls in the league.

According to the scale, a Yellow card earns a team 5 points, red card carries  a 10 point penalty while other offenses like not using dressing rooms, not using designate points of entry and causing match delays carry a maximum of 10 points.

Hwange Football Club  top the Fair Play Award Log with 145 points in a system where the team with the lowest number of points will walk away winners.

Of the 145 points amassed by Chipangano, 115 have come through yellow cards while 30 have been through red cards.

They have not let off field squabbles ruin their good behavior as they have been facing financial hiccups which resulted in players resorting to an industrial action last week in protest of non-payment of salaries and match fees as well as bonuses.

Behind them is another mining team FC Platinum who are locked in a championship tussle with Highlanders and Caps United.

Completing the top 3 of the Fair Play Awards is yet another mining team, How Mine Football Club who have 165 points (135 yellow cards and 30 through red cards).

Meanwhile, Caps United, who are the current league leaders have not been disciplined as they have been in collecting points.

The Green Machine anchor the Fair Play award after collecting a disappointing 355 points which has seen them collecting 205 points through yellow cards, 10 points through red cards 10 points through delay of kickoffs and 130 points have come through disciplinary fines.

Fading giants, Dynamos and in-form Highlanders lie on position 13 and 12 respectively while current champions, Chicken Inn Football Club  rest on 11th spot.

The winners of the Fair Play Award will walk away $10,000 richer on the Castle Lager Premier Soccer (PSL) league player of the year gala on date yet to be announced.
