Zanu PF women urged to remain united

The Zanu PF Women’s league Harare Provincial Executive council members have been implored to ensure that the women’s league remains united for the party to achieve its goal of delivering services to the electorate.

Following a request made by the National Secretary for Women’s Affairs, Dr Grace Mugabe for the top 10 management committee of the women’s league to conduct induction workshops for provincial executive council members and women appointed under the women’s quota to represent the women’s league in the central committee, Harare province held its induction workshop yesterday.

Zanu PF Deputy Secretary for Women’s Affairs, Eunice Sandi Moyo in a speech read on her behalf by Secretary for Information and Publicity in the Women’s League  Thokozile Mathuthu, who is also Deputy Minister of Information, Media and Broadcasting Services said as the country approaches the 2018 elections, people in leadership positions must avoid conflicts and strive to connect with the grassroots.

“We have been hearing reports of factionalism and disunity in the party, but let me reiterate the call for unity amongst  those in leadership positions.

“You are the ones that have a huge task of making sure the party grows from strength to strength. You should not be at the center of fueling disunity and unnecessary squabbles,” she said.

She added that as the party prepares for the 2018 unity was of importance from all party members to ensure that the ruling party remains victorious.

Zanu PF Women’s League National Political Commissar, Mabel Chinomona, who is also the Deputy Speaker of Parliament, said every leader who has been elected into office must work to strengthen the party.

Her sentiments were echoed by Harare provincial women’s league chairperson Joyce Kasinamunda who said the women’s league is firmly behind President Robert Mugabe’s candidature in the 2018 presidential elections, while Deputy Minister of Lands and Rural Resettlement, Berita Chikwama explained that women are also entitled to get land as long as their spouses were not already allocated.

The one-day induction workshop was held under the theme: ‘Empowering Women for Effective Performance’.

The workshop aims to equip women who occupy leadership positions with relevant skills to execute their duties. Facilitators were drawn from the women’s league national executive as well as experts in various fields.
