One Year On: Zimbabweans Remember Soul Jah Love

Today marks 1 year since Zimdancehall chanter, Soul Jah Love passed away.

Soul Jah Love real name, Soul Musaka passed away last year on the 16th of February. He was 31 years old when he succumbed to complications related to diabetes.

The famously troubled entertainer, also known as Chibaba and Sauro was accorded national hero status by the government with a state funeral and gun salute.

His funeral and burial at the Warren Hills Cemetery in the capital was a huge spectacle. Tens of thousands of people defied the Covid-19 lockdown regulations in order to see off “Chibaba.”

Soul Jah Love’s untimely death left a huge gap in the arts industry. He was a lyrical genius. On the streets, his talented lyrical style touched a chord and resonated well with many.  Soul Jah Love was accepted as the voice of the people.

Meanwhile, Zimbabweans have since taken to social media to remember him and his music.
