The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) has arrested Tinotenda Maunganidze on charges of impersonating a ZACC official in an attempt to interfere with a police case involving a traffic violation.
According to authorities, Maunganidze allegedly posed as a ZACC officer and instructed Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) Officer Wilbert Ngandu to release Tatenda Chidziva, who had been arrested for traffic offences along Ardbennie Road.

Officer Ngandu, suspicious of Maunganidze’s identity, refused to comply with the demand. In a bold move, Maunganidze later went to Mbare Police Station to pursue the matter further.
At the station, Officer Ngandu requested proof of Maunganidze’s ZACC credentials. Instead, Maunganidze presented an ID card from the Zimbabwe National Anti-Corruption Organisation (ZINACO), a separate and unrelated organisation with no legal authority under ZACC.
Recognising the impersonation attempt, Officer Ngandu promptly contacted ZACC. Investigators responded swiftly, leading to Maunganidze’s arrest.
Maunganidze is scheduled to appear for initial remand at the Harare Magistrates’ Court today, May 3, 2025.
