Dynamos, Highlanders clash in ZNA Charity Shield

All is set for the third edition of the Commander Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) Charity Shield final pitting long standing perennial rivals, Harare giants Dynamos and Bulawayo giants Highlanders scheduled for August 2 at Rufaro Stadium in Harare.

Both teams in will meet in the league encounter a week before they clash in the Charity Shield final. Dynamos will travel to Barbourfields on July 25 for league match and then welcome the Bulawayo giants the following week for the Commander ZNA Charities finals at Rufaro.

Dynamos LogoFour teams took part in the Charity tournament this year and DeMbare clinched the ticket courtesy of a 2-1 victory over Caps United while Bosso eliminated How Mine with an identical margin just before the start of the season this year.

The two perennial rivals will lock horns for the first time in the final of the three-year- old tournament.

According to Alphios Makotore, who is also the Director Army Public Relations, the final of the ZNA Charities Shield has been slotted soon after league clash.

“Gate charges for the final will be US$3 for the rest of the ground, US$5 for the Upper Western Stand and US$10 for the VIP.

“Children will be asked to pay US$1 to watch the two giants in action at Rufaro stadium,” said Makotore.

The proceeds from the match will go towards supporting the challenged members of the army and their dependants.

The ZNA has five charitable organisations that include Tsang Lodge Convalescent Centre, Army Widows and Orphans Benevolent Fund, ZNA Benevolent Fund, ZNA Schools Welfare Trust Fund, as well as the ZNA Patients Welfare Fund.
