The government has described as ‘worthless’ and ‘unreasonable’, protests by angry Zimbabweans outside the Groote Schuur Hospital in Cape Town South Africa where Vice President Chiwenga is reportedly seeking medical attention.

Chiwenga was airlifted to South Africa on Saturday after suffering an undisclosed ailment.

Information, Media and Broadcasting Services deputy minister Energy Mutodi in an interview with 263Chat blasted the protests as attention seeking madness by ‘worthless people.’

“We know not of any planned demonstrations against the Vice President. In any case it can only be business to worthless people to try and raise a placard to an ill person at a hospital. That kind of attention seeking madness is intolerable to any reasonable persons,” Mutodi said.

“Definitely that’s a question for his medical doctors. They can better tell when he will be fit for office work. We wish him a quick recovery. However, should you require further clarity kindly contact George,” he added.

Meanwhile, the opposition MDC distanced itself from the demonstrations held against Chiwenga with spokesperson Jacob Mafume saying the the party had only learnt of the protests on social media.
