Alert: Ecocash To Go Through Overnight Maintenance

Zimbabwe’s leading mobile money platform, Ecocash is set to go under a scheduled overnight maintenance. The maintenance will begin tonight  (November 27, 2017) from 11pm to 3am early Tuesday morning.

A statement received from the company said as a result of the maintenance work, EcoCash customers may experience service disruption between the above mentioned time frames.

Ecocash, a subsidiaryn of Econet Wireless Zimbabwe issued a statement saying the company regrets any inconveniences caused to its subscribers.

However, they company was quick to mention that the scheduled maintenance work would result in improved service to its customers. Ecocash has showed resilience in terms of anchoring the millions of transactions processed on a daily basis since its inception in 2011.

EcoCash is Zimbabwe’s largest mobile money transfer service, with over 98% share of the mobile money market, according to industry figures. Its platform is integrated with 11 banks in Zimbabwe.

During the Mobile Money Conference hosted by OxLink Capital early this year, the Reserve of Zimbabwe revealed that Ecocash has up to date processed over $60 Billion transactions. The mobile money platform has played a major in transforming Zimbabwe’s banking terrain through financial inclusion of the un-banked community.
