Econet Wireless Zimbabwe has so far rewarded more than 60 customers with various prizes ranging from refrigerators, gas stoves and smartphones and airtime in its US$150 000 “Smart Buddies Promotion”.
The lucky winners were rewarded after recharging their mobile phones with at least US$1 airtime per day for the weekly prizes, while those who top up with US$20 airtime or buy bundles worth US$20 during the promotional period are in the running for the grand prizes of 2KVA solar systems.
The promotion, wh Econet ich ends on 30 October 2022, saw 10 people walking away with smartphones, five people getting fridges and another five winning gas stoves in the first draw. To date, more than three weekly draws have been conducted.
Paul Tapiwa Kabote from Marondera thanked Econet for rewarding him with a gas stove, which he said was a perfect gift at a time the country is experiencing increased load shedding due to electricity shortages.
“Thank you Econet for this priceless gift. Considering the current harsh economic environment, it would have been impossible for me to buy this gas stove, but Econet has made it possible for me. I want to encourage my fellow Econet subscribers to respond to promotions so that you can end up a winner like me,” he said.
Another winner Anyway Chakatiyaka from Rushinga said: “I am so happy with the refrigerator prize I won. Econet has set a new level of promotional prizes in Zimbabwe. Thank you so much guys. I hope Econet will continue running these promotions so that we can build a solid asset base with these prizes.
Linda Nyoni from Victoria Falls could not hide her joy after receiving her prize in the resort town.
“I didn’t do anything out of the ordinary to win this prize. I just recharged my phone like I always do but was pleasantly surprised when I get a call that I had won a fridge. At first, I thought it was a plank, only to later realise it was real. Thank you Econet for this magnificent prize,” she said.
Econet recently launched the Smart Buddies Promotion to appreciate its customers for their support in a difficult operating environment.

Econet’s US$ airtime is available at all Econet shops countrywide as well as in leading supermarkets such as OK and TM Pick’n Pay and from airtime vendors. Customers can also buy the airtime directly from their EcoCash FCA wallet by *153#.
