Popular comedienne, Mai Titi hurriedly was forced to swallow humble pie after Zimbabweans in the United Kingdom threatened to boycott an event she is billed to headline, following her previous utterances against their caregiver work.
Mai Titi is set to host an event dubbed One Nite Only With Wai TT at 100 Watering Lane Collingtre, Northampton but the diasporans who are still livid for being mocked are conspiring to abscond the show.
In a lengthy statement shared on Facebook, Mai Titi explained herself saying the tirade was not targeting every care worker in England but one specific person.
“Kune mafans angu eku England ndakanzwa nhau yevamwe vasiri kufara nemuromo wandakanzi ndakataura 3 years ago pandakaenda kuEngland panguva yaZizo. Mufunge ,ndichiita live pane munhu akataura kuti ndakutsvaga Asylum nenhau yezvandakange ndaitwa naZizo saka ndakuda kushandisa nhau iyi kuita refugee.
“Mufunge ndikatarisa fan base rangu vanhu vazhinji ndevekuEngland and there s no way I can disrespect them. Ma customer angu chaio ndeekuEngland even madzimai mazhinji andinotamba nawo mikando vane dzimba dzinotyisa muno ndevekuEngland . So why would I insult them ?? Ndoziva ndine vamwe vanotenga havo beef risiri ravo ende handingavachinje asi chokwadi chaicho handina kureva imimi panguva iyoyo kana murikufeela kuti ndaireva imimi ruregerero kwamuri mose. Kana musirikuuya kuEvent I totally understand asi musachengete chigumbu ichochi chemakore akapera.,” wrote Mai Titi.
(To all my fans in England, I have realised that some of you are not happy with what I said three years ago when Zizoe invited me. The message was not directed to all of you, but to someone I was insulting because the person was mocking me.)
She also grabbed the opportunity to indicate that 100 people have already bought tickets to the event which she is grateful for.
“Kune avo 100 vatenga matickets so far ndinokutendai chose ne support iyoyi Mwari akuitireyi zvakanaka.”
