Mamombe, Chimbiri And Marova Back In Court

Three MDC Alliance female leaders Netsai Marova, Joana Mamombe and Cecelia Chimbiri will today appear at the Harare Magistrates Court for a hearing of the state’s bid to vary their bail conditions so that they surrender their passports amid fears by the police that they may escape out of the country.

The three were abducted while coming from a demonstration in Warren Park a fortnight ago and have been in hospital after sustaining injuries from torture at the hands of suspected state security agents.

They later appeared in court on charges of allegedly staging an anti- government protests during the COVID-19 national lockdown and were granted RTGS$1000 bail each but according to their lawyers the Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR), the state intends to add more bail conditions.

“At 11:15, Joana Mamombe, Cecelia Chimbiri and Netsai Marova will appear at Harare Magistrates Court for the hearing of the state’s bid to vary their bail conditions so that they surrender their passports because the police claims it is apprehensive they intend to escape from Zim,” said ZLHR.

Mamombe and her two colleagues were ordered them to report once every fortnight at CID Law and Order Section at Harare Central Police Station.
