PDP backs Mliswa

The Tendai Biti led People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has firmly expressed its zeal to support the candidature of  Temba Mliswa in the forth-coming  Norton by elections.

Mliswa, a former Zanu PF Provincial Chairperson will lock horns with Ronald Chindedza of Zanu PF and David Choga of National Constitutional Assembly (NCA) on 22 October.

In a statement PDP Secretary for Elections, Settlement Chikwinya said his party supports Mliswa’s bid to block Zanu PF from attaining the Norton seat.

“We urge the people of Norton to support Temba Mliswa in his quest to block ZANU-PF to claim the seat. We are tired of ZANU-PF; they must not be allowed to win any election in Zimbabwe while Zimbabweans are watching,””said Chikwinya.

Chikwinya added that the PDP has joined Zimbabweans who have taken the fight to Mugabe in the courts in a bid to defend the rights and push for the actualisation of the new constitution.

“We believe that Zimbabweans must enjoy the freedoms enshrined in the new Constitution,” Chikwinya said.

The PDP says it will stick to its position stated in the Mandel Declaration, which among other resolutions underlines the ‘No Reform No Election’ policy position.
“Despite the fact that the PDP is against an election without reform, we are of the view that any fight against ZANUPF is worth pursuing,” reads part of the speech.
