Court Sets Date For Ginimbi To Answer $3m Tax Evasion Charges

Harare magistrate Lovemore Mapiye has set 19 November as the trial date for flamboyant businessman Genius ‘Ginimbi’ Kadungure who is answering to charges of tax evasion amounting to $3 Million.

Kadungure appeared before the court today represented by Jonathan Samukange.

Ginimbi is facing tax evasion charges of over $3 million, after being arrested following investigations by the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) where he was allegedly importing gas without paying tax.

Allegations against Kadungure are that between February 2009 and May 2016 his company Piko Trading Private limited misrepresented to ZIMRA that it made total sales of$2 777  678 inclusive of VAT…when in actual fact the company made sales amounting to $9 092 951.

ZIMRA suffered a prejudice and Kadungure is also being accused of other tax  evasions which saw ZIMRA suffering a total prejudice of $3 468 949.
