Mirror student on attachment nominated for YETT awards
Mirror Reporter – HARARE – Mirror reporter on attachment, Ruvimbo Chaibva (with the Midlands State University) has been nominated for YETT (Youth Empowerment and Transformation Trust) national awards to be held in Harare at the end of this month.
YETT is a youth networking organisation committed to the full participation of young people in sustainable development through advocacy and capacity building of youth organizations in Zimbabwe.
YETT public relations officer Samantha said her organisation has been monitoring the paper since January this year for stories that concern youths and women issues.
This is not the first time that students with The Mirror have excelled in national competitions as several others have won awards to the extent of even beating established journalists.
Rumbidazi Ndlovu who is now doing her final year with MSU is the reigning Traffic Safety Board student reporter of the year.
“We have been monitoring The Mirror since the beginning of the year and we have concluded that Ruvimbo was among a few journalists who reported on issues that affects women and youth.
“She is one of the reporters our panel nominated for the awards to be held at the end of this month. We started these awards this year and we hope we are going to hold them annually,” she said.
