Repent or No Politburo meetings Moyo told

Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association (ZNLWVA) yesterday ordered Higher Education minister to apologize  or face the risk of being barred form politburo meetings, state media reported.

In an interview with the Herald yesterday ZNLWVA secretary General Victor Matemadanda said Professor Moyo should apologise for continually attacking Zanu PF officials on social media or will be barred from Politburo meetings.

“… we are saying he should not attend Politburo meetings unless he apologies to the Party and Mr. Charamba who he used, to indirectly attack the president,” said Matemadanda.

Matemadanda added that the War Veterans Association would not resists to bar him from attending Politburo meetings.

“We are going to block him from attending those meetings. We cannot block him from Cabinet because even members from the opposition can attend such meetings,” he said.

He armor-plated that no  party member has the authority to disobey decisions passed by both the Politburo and Central Committee.

“What we know traditionally is that if the politburo or central committee make a decision, no party member should defy that,” said Matemadanda.

Matemadanda added that Prof Moyo was defying President’s command which forbade Party officials to use social media to discuss party and government issues.

Responding to Matemadanda’s sentiments, on his Twitter page Prof Moyo who is also Zanu PF’s secretary for Science and Technology twitted that Matemadanda was damaging the War Veterans association’s image.

Commenting on another The Herald  article titled Politburo to tackle social media abuse, which stipulated that the Politburo meeting likely to take place this week will tackle cases of officials who are abusing social media to settle political scores @ProfJNMoyo Twitted.

The fierce- verbal war between members of G40, a faction which is believed to  be Prof Moyo’s brainchild, opposed to Vice-President Emmerson Mnangagwa succeeding Mugabe and Team Lacoste, which is said to be spearheaded by VP Mnangwagwa  turned nasty when Presidential Spokesperson, George Charamba public undressed Moyo and fellow G40 members for discussing President Mugabe’s tenure.
