Sports Fraternity Busk In Zim Cricket Glory

Sports stars took to social media to congratulate Zimbabwe Cricket following their emphatic 151 run win over Bangladesh yesterday at the Sylhet Stadium.

The victory was Zimbabwe’s first away win in 17 years and it was also their only third away test win in their history.

In their congratulatory message, the ZC showered the team with praises, labeling it ” talented group”.

“It was a terrific team effort and we followed all the action with immense pride and excitement as you recorded Zimbabwe’s first Test victory in five years and the first one abroad since November 2001,” he added.

“You are a talented group and you have shown the mental strength and fortitude to succeed at the highest level and we can only urge you to work harder and stay focused.”ZC acting Managing Director Givemore Makoni said in a message sent to the team.

Former Indian batsman and legend, VVS Laxman was among several sports personalities who took to social media to congratulate the Chevrons.

Giant telecoms company also joined a coterie of well-wishers.

Zimbabwe completed a remarkable turnaround to snatch a victory in their first Test of the year, having endured a torrid, winless streak in limited-overs cricket since the World Cup Qualifiers in March.

While their white-ball cricket has suffered from inconsistent performances, the change in format against Bangladesh came along with successful contributions in virtually every department.

They will now be preparing to face Bangladesh in the second Test match scheduled for 11-15 November in Dhaka.
