ZANU PF Acting Spokesperson, Patrick Chinamasa has repeated his threats to organisers of the 31 July protests that they will not sit back and watch while the opposition pushes President Emmerson Mnangagwa out of office.
Addressing journalists at the party headquarters yesterday, Chinamasa said Zanu PF members will use whatever they have to defend themselves from attack by the opposition.
“We have to send this massage clearly that we will not tolerate this time, the opposition MDCA doing what they are planning and used to do, that is violence. We urge our members to defend themselves and use whatever they have to fight back these hooligans,” said Chinamasa.
He tore into MDC Alliance leader Nelson Chamisa, accusing him of declaring war against Zanu PF.
He said that Chamisa and his people are the perpetrators of violence whose hands have the blood of the August killings, January 2016 protests, among other protests which saw the death of many in the country.
“Chamisa has been declaring war and we have been quiet about it. All the killings which happened in August 2018 even the January protests it was the acts of MDCA.
“We urged our members to go quiet during the elections but for now we are prepared for them. We know they are being funded by the United States but we are ready for you,” added Chinamasa.
Meanwhile, ex-ZANU PF youth leader Godfrey Tsenengamu and MDCA youth spokesperson Stephen Chuma have vowed to proceed with the planned action despite threats from the ruling party.
