Zimbabwe Karate Union Taps into Okinawa Karate Origins

The Zimbabwe Karate Union (ZKU) will tomorrow host a prestigious international seven day karate seminar dubbed the Jindokai Cultural Mayhem that will bring ten world class 10th Dan Senseis from Okinawa Japan where karate originated.

Renowned grandmaster Testuhiro Hokama 10th Dan Goju Ryu will lead the 150 Japanese delegates expected to jet in tomorrow.

 In an interview ZKU President Sensei Paul Danisa said the Jindokai Cultural Mayhem seminar would capacitate the current crop of local Karatekas to compete at the highest level in international and regional tournaments.

“The purpose of the Jindokai Cultural Mayhem seminar is to attain and realise the in-depth knowledge of the origins and essence of karate.

“This seminar will capacitate our own local karatekas with the requisite knowledge and skills to improve our performance at international tournaments,” he said.

President Danisa also noted that more than 100 athletes including our bordering neighbours South Africa and Zambia would partake and benefit from the lucrative seminar.

Captain of the ZKU team Dean Ramsey said the seminar will be a major boost that would assist their efforts to qualify for the 2020 Japanese summer Olympics.

“The Jindukai Cultural Mayhem seminar that will house world class ten 10th Dan grandmasters from Okinawa were Karate originated will empower local Karatekas with ancient superior technics to be seasoned athletes.

This international seminar will also assist our efforts to qualify for the 2020 Olympics were there only 80 spots reserved for athletes across the globe,” he said.
