ZB Bank Unveils Revolutionary Digital Payment Solutions: Smile Cash and Smile Pay

Financial institution ZB Bank officially launched two digital financial platforms—Smile Cash and Smile Pay—in a move that could reshape the country’s financial landscape.

The innovations aim to bridge the gap between traditional banking and the modern fintech ecosystem, providing seamless, inclusive, and smart financial services for individuals and businesses

The Smile Cash and Smile Pay platforms are designed to be all-in-one digital payment solutions, empowering users with tools for peer-to-peer (P2P), business-to-business (B2B), consumer-to-business (C2B), and even government-to-citizen (G2C) transactions.

With functionality ranging from remittance services, bill payments, merchant solutions, and revenue collection, ZB Bank is clearly positioning itself at the center of Zimbabwe’s digital finance transformation.

“These solutions aren’t just about convenience—they’re about access. Smile Cash and Smile Pay are built to serve the last-mile customer just as much as the urban entrepreneur.” said ZB Chief Transformation Officer, Kangai Maukazuva

Among the standout features are self-onboarding, cardless withdrawals, QR code payments, virtual ZB cards, and agent-based cash-in and cash-out services.

The platforms support multiple currencies, offer bill payment options, and provide a digital wallet that integrates seamlessly with banking services.

The services also allow real-time payments for merchants, support e-commerce integrations, and facilitate bulk disbursements like salaries, pensions, and social grants—critical for the country’s large informal and rural sectors.

Smile Cash and Smile Pay aren’t just local solutions. ZB Bank has also completed integrations with international card services like VISA and MasterCard, and is connected to the SADC RTGS ISO 20022 system, as well as the Pan-African Payment and Settlement System (PAPSS).

The bank now offers what it touts as the “best Telegraphic Transfer (TT) service” in the country.
