‘Protests reflect Zanu PF’s failure’

The Movement for Democratic Change today said the protests that rocked most of Harare’s suburbs were a clear sign that citizens are fed up with Zanu PF leadership.

Addressing journalists in Harare MDC-T spokesperson, Obert Gutu said that the kombi protests testify that the ruling party was now unpopular.

“These protests are simply sending a massage to President Mugabe that it is enough.

“Zimbabweans themselves are conveying a signal to this regime and in doing so they have come up very assertively to say enough is enough,” said Gutu.

He also applauded the protestors for sending a message to the government,  a government which he says has always neglected the views of the people.

Gutu said his party fully support the peaceful demonstrations against government.

“We will support every demonstration aimed at exposing the ruling party as the Zanu PF, government is a complete failure,” he said.

Gutu called on the government to revise its 2013 campaign slogan,‘bhora mugedhi/bola.

“They must revisit the bhora mughedhi chant and put the ball at the centre to re-start the match since Zimbabweans are ready.

“Three years ago, Zanu PF campaigned on a cheap message, Bhora Mugedhi. What Zimbabweans are simply doing now through their various actions is to retrieve that ball from the nets of poverty and demanding that the nation begins this game afresh,” he said adding that only a credible election would see a legitimate government leading the country.

“The demonstrations currently happening are part of the national desire for Operation Bhora Pacentre. Indeed, Zimbabweans want a fresh start, a fresh beginning under a legitimate government,” said Gutu.

Speaking at that same conference, party Secretary General Douglas Mwonzora echoed the above sentiments saying that the demonstrations which rocked Harare today were a result of Zanu PF’s misrule.
