Matemadanda, Mahiya, seven others fired

The Zanu PF purging axe has once again claimed the four top executives of the Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans’ Association, who include Victor Matemadanda, Douglas Mahiya , headman Bhila and Munacho Mutezo.

The  development was confirmed by Zanu PF Secretary for administration, Dr Ignatius Chombo while addressing Journalists after the  Politburo meeting in Harare yesterday .  He said the four together with  5 others  who are yet to be named have seized to be members of the ruling party.

“After hearings and deliberations, we have decided to expel these four while the other five will be notified in due course. This is in line with the Party’s Disciplinary procedure where we sit and deliberate on any disciplinary matter, hence we have found these comrades guilty,” said Dr Chombo.

He added that under the constitution of Zimbabwe, if a member of Parliament is expelled from his or her parent party, the constituency  becomes vacant hence there will be a by-election in Chimanimani West Constituency following the expulsion of Munacho Mutezo.

Chombo added “We gave Munacho Mutezo a chance to defend himself of charges laid against him but he could not, so we had to expel him.

“He is no longer our member and he is free to join any political party be it Zim People First, MDC-T or any, he is can do that now,”

The other three, Matemadanda, Mahiya and Bhila were expelled for allegedly sanctioning a war veterans meeting which produced a damning communique that called on President Mugabe to step down.

They were subsequently arrested on these allegations and have since been granted $300 bail pending investigations.
