Zimbabwe will host Ireland for three one-day international (ODI) matches and as many Twenty20 international (T20I) games in Bulawayo next month. The limited-overs series will start off with the T20I matches which are scheduled for 2, 4 and 5 April, followed by the ODI fixtures set
In the scenario of the Windies winning the match, the tournament will remain wide open and any two of the five leading sides can qualify for the ICC’s pinnacle 50-over tournament which will be held in England and Wales from 30 May to 14 July.
A wet outfield meant that the two teams didn’t get a chance to get down to business, and Zimbabwe remain 1-0 in front in the five-match series after having won the first game by six wickets on 8 February.
And after a long wait, with 1335 hours being the cut-off time for any possible start, the umpires finally called off the match which meant it was a drawn series after the two sides won a match apiece in the first two games
The hosts won the opening 50-over match comfortably by seven wickets courtesy of the Duckworth-Lewis method on Thursday, before they fell short of the 207-run target in the second one-dayer
