Six members of the Zimbabwe National Students Union (ZINASU) have been arrested for staging a demonstration at the University of Zimbabwe (UZ).
The students were protesting demanding lecturers to be well paid and return for work. The lecturers have been on strike since last week demanding better salaries.

Last week, the ZINASU UZ chapter issued an ultimatum to the UZ Administration demanding action on the grievances raised by lecturers’ failure of which will result in a total shutdown of the University.
The students further called for immediate postponement of all examinations until such time that lectures have resumed duty and adequate learning has taken place.
They also provision of alternative academic support, including comprehensive study materials and tutorial sessions to ensure that students do not fail behind their studies and a public commitment from the university administration to engage in good faith negotiations with striking lecturers.
