ZIFA On The Ropes As COSAFA Impose Hefty Ban

The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA)  is a facing a lengthy ban from competing in the COSAFA Cups after the regional body imposed a two year ban on the Felton Kamambo led administration .

 

A statement from Cosafa  reads:

  • Zimbabwe national soccer team face a possible suspension from the annual regional tournament, the Cosafa Cup for their failure to host the event having previously agreed to do so.
    However, Zifa has two months to remedy the situation, that is committing to host the event next year (2020) which will see then paying a fine of $50 000 and will be allowed to participate in this year’s event.
    The Cosafa leadership has asked Zifa to provide a committement approval from the government, of which failure to do within the stipulated time will see Zimbabwe booted out of the competition as well as asked to pay an additional $150 000.
